Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort’s Chief Concierge is Oussama Itani. The resort features the United Arab Emirates’ only over-water villas and “offers all the elements for a luxurious escape on Palm Jumeirah, a man-made marvel that lies close to the city centre while feeling far away”. Oussama was born in Beirut, Lebanon and started his hospitality career there in 2000, as a bellman before quickly progressing to bell captain. In 2007, he was promoted to chief concierge and worked in hotels in Doha, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Ajman Saray. As the Chief Concierge, Oussama says his main duties are to “share the local knowledge, and explain what the city is all about and what is has to offer…”. Well, aren’t we the lucky ones?! Let’s find out what Dubai has in store for us from one its top Chief Concierges…
Most popular request
The most popular requests which we get here in Dubai is to arrange desert safaris and also to get tickets booked for Burj Khalifa, At the Top.
Favourite locale when enjoying a day off
I enjoy walking down through the Alserkal Avenue where I can say it’s a cultural hub of Dubai. I loved visiting their amazing restaurants and also being a part of the different exhibitions and events in the art galleries.
It’s always a different feeling when I have coffees in Dubai Coffee Museum, where I get an opportunity to taste coffees from different parts of the world, especially Ethiopian, Egyptian, Turkish, and also local. Also, you can go to the best coffee shops in Dubai like RAW Coffee Company in Al Quoz, Stomping Grounds in Jumeirah, etc., to taste the best coffee in the city.
Where we must go for lunch
I enjoy having my lunch in The Farm, set with in the green surroundings of Al Barari. It’s always a great experience being there and enjoying my lunch with the breathtaking views.
It’s a rainy day outside but we want to explore, what we should do
First of all, it’s very rare that you see rain in Dubai. If it is a rainy day, I recommend you visit the IMG Worlds of Adventure, an indoor amusement park; or go to Hub Zero Dubai, in the city, for an interactive gaming experience; and also The Green Planet Dubai, an indoor tropical rainforest experience. However, all our shopping malls would be a great choice to visit during the rainy time, especially The Dubai Mall and Mall of The Emirates, for different choices of shopping and entertainment.
An absolute must-do or must-see before leaving
If you are travelling to Dubai for the first time, don’t miss the chance for a desert safari. My recommendation would be a Heritage Desert Safari. I am sure you will get an opportunity to take a step back in time and experience Dubai as it was 50 years ago and you will have an opportunity to explore the desert on a vintage, 1950s Land Rover. Another great suggestion is visiting the observation deck of the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa.
What he loves about his hotel
Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort is inspired by traditional Thai architecture in an Arabian setting.
Anything else we should know when visiting
As a vibrant city, Dubai provides our guests with lots of options to explore different activities, starting from skydiving, Hot-air ballooning, sea plane trips, and so on. I am sure our Les Clefs d’Or Concierges in the city can customise an amazing package for all their guests, according to their guests’ preferences.
