Helping us see the world from a deck

by Sunday, February 3, 2019

How’s life treating you? Coping with being back at work? Feeling discombobulated with children back at school? All of the above? I feel your pain, but I’m also looking forward to all that February has to bring and maybe the chance of us catching up at a local travel expo or book signing.

This Sunday has me as the Guest Speaker at the Travel & Cruise World Expo in Geelong and I’m genuinely excited to go. My life has come full circle from when I attended as a curious visitor last year. Days before, I’d been asked by a publisher to write a book on the best of world cruising and I knew this would be the perfect place to begin my research.

At the time, I knew I didn’t have the time to write the book. However, the moment I walked into the expo and saw what a complete bunfight it was; guests loaded down with masses of travel goodie bags; confused looks on their faces… “Right”, I thought. “Where do I start?” I knew I had to write the book.

So, I got myself a new agent and spent one year writing the book, determined to create a one-stop book for travellers with a desire to cruise in all its many shapes and forms.

This Sunday, 3 February, I will return to that expo (open 10am-4pm), one year down the track, to present my findings. I’m nervous, but champing at the bit that this book may just help one person keen to see the world from a deck. Ok, I hope I can help more than one person. I’ll keep you posted.

Bon Voyage!
