Hilton Surfers Paradise

That Hilton Hotel is such a show off! Take for example their beach style. My experience of a beach holiday involved lugging everything from a hotel room and finding a spot on the beach for the day. Well, if you stay at Hilton Surfers Paradise as I did, those days are over.

It’s the first Australian hotel to offer beach valet service! I like this, I like it alot. They take your bits and pieces to the beach, find the best spot and are at your beck and call. They will replenish drinks, snacks, towels and sunscreen whenever you want.

Check out this butler on the beach.

Obviously being Hilton, the hotel is as impressive as the service. It’s gorgeous, it’s five star and has a stack of accommodation in two towers – everything from slick hotel rooms to self-contained apartments.

The Deck has four pools and seven spas, including the country’s first Eforea Spa, picnic areas, grassy pavilions, barbecue huts and a children’s play area.

The restaurant and all dining areas were the brainchild of renowned chef Luke Mangan. Let me just say, where this man’s name is used, you know mouthwatering brilliance must follow. Salt Grill’s cuisine is modern Australian and it has a vast, hand-selected wine cellar. In the evenings diners may enjoy a seven course degustation menu with the distinct Mangan stamp. It’s open from 6:30am to 10pm.

Fix Bar

This is Fix Bar. A must-stop.

Fix Bar is named after a popular 1930s cocktail. It’s where you sink into a plush armchair in chic vintage-style interiors. Mixologist Grant Collins will whip up your favourite drink or suggest one of his own special creations.

Another of Luke Mangan’s ideas is The Food Store. Unique to Hilton Surfers Paradise, the gourmet marketplace has a wonderful range of local imported produce and dry goods. The European-style delicatessen has wines, coffee, cheeses, oils, olives, pastas, charcuterie and patisserie items. Perfect for something to enjoy in your own room or to take if you are visiting friends.

I just have to add, you know how we always know a restaurant is good if it’s filled with locals? Well this place was filled with all ages, celebrating, meeting, dining, drinking. The energy was so pleasant and locals seemed to be truly relieved that a place like this has found itself here. Oh and one more cherry to pop on top? The beach is just a 2 minute walk away. What’s not to love?

WHAT TO WEAR

Get your summer style on. Think long flowy dressers, some snazzy sunnies, a cute hat for the beach and some sandals.

CATRIONA’S TIPS

  • Make friends with the concierge immediately and milk the many, many activities surrounding the hotel. From the whale watching to ‘The Worlds’ this is one trip that’ll have you busy.
  • That said, book in early to the hotel spa, you could easily turn this into a Babymoon, a girls weekend away, or simply ‘never leave the hotel’ kinda weekend.
  • Robina Town Centre seems to be the locals shopping haunt of choice around these parts, but there’s plenty of beautiful shop within walking distance and don’t forget nearby Marina Mirage (personal fave) and even the beachfront markets are fun.
