Have you listened to last week’s fabulous podcast yet? It’s an interview with ‘luxury concierge’ Filippo Curinga from Italy. If you haven’t, just be aware, it may make you peckish…
It had that effect on us when we recorded it. How could it not? Food is so much more than mere sustenance in Italy; it plays a central role in the country’s culture.
We called the podcast “Dream Holiday in Italy starts with breakfast at the Vatican” because brekkie at Rome’s Catholic HQ is just one of the unique, behind-the-scenes/after-hours/usually-off-limits experiences that Filippo can provide for his lucky clients. Filippo told us about some other special places he visits, and some of the celebrities who have engaged his services. Listen here.
Thank goodness then that Hotel Lindrum came to our stomachs’ rescue, presenting us with a work of culinary art: A three-tiered stand of High-Tea loveliness which included ribbon sandwiches, fresh scones with clotted cream and organic jam, petite pastries, macarons and afternoon cakes, espresso coffee, T2 teas and champagne.
The historic Hotel Lindrum, at the top end of Melbourne’s Flinders Street, is High-Tea central on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4pm. (Click here to read our story in our Ask The Concierge section.)
While baby and bridal shower parties are known to enjoy High Tea at this warm and charming hotel (they even provide party games to keep the conversation flowing), don’t wait for a hatch or match to justify this decadence. Perhaps an excuse could be to simply a catch up with best friends and discuss where to go in the Eternal City on your next journey through Europe? Just remember, Filippo at Italian Dream Incorporated is your man on the ground there.
