Tony Murphy, Munsterbus Tours
Tony, originally from Rathmore, a small village in Co. Kerry, spent many of his childhood summers in the bogs cutting turf surrounded by sheep, green fields and a stone’s throw from numerous tourist attractions. Living in such close proximity to The Ring of Kerry, Dingle Peninsula, Slea Head, Blarney Castle, etc he has an abundance of local knowledge. Tony has a natural flair for storytelling and this combined with his quick wit and sense of humour makes time in his company quite enjoyable.
Tony was always a keen traveller himself and as soon as he could set off on the best education life had to offer, to explore other countries, nationalities and different ways of life. He initially set sail for England and started to earn a living doing various odd jobs but he had his sights set on adventure and was keen to ‘veer off the beaten track’, something he still has a hunger for today! Tony took an up an unusual apprenticeship and became a Croupier, this had him from a very young age rubbing shoulders with the many different personalities who would regularly frequent the casinos in the West End of London.
With a head for figures and a poker face, he decided to continue his travels and did so in the gaming industry on board cruise ships and visiting countries like Russia and Greece where he took up residence for a while. This career allowed Tony to experience so many different cultures, traditions and created in him an ability to mingle with all walks of life. He is at times like a walking encyclopedia full of ‘useless information’ but always very entertaining!
After many years traveling Tony returned home to Ireland and with his entrepreneurial flair, he turned his attention to various business ventures. Eventually, it was Tony’s passion for his native land, his ability to entertain and his love of people that developed into the wonderful Munsterbus Tour Company. Having married locally, Tony now lives in Cork and has two children and he hopes Munsterbus tours can be a legacy for his family. Tony is a very proud Irishman who is keen to share all the Emerald Isle has to offer, come on tour and meet the man himself. Whether you call him ‘Tony Tour’ or ‘Tony Casino’ you are sure to be greeted warmly, feel in good company and find you have a friend for life as Tony is as genuine and loyal a person as you could ever wish to meet. Come on a tour and join his tribe!
