My mission to find somewhere to stay off the beaten track led me to a very special place on Bali’s east coast…
Komune Resort & Beach Club is on Bali’s less developed, lush eastern side, around 40 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport.
It started life as a boutique resort for surfers on a pilgrimage to one of the world’s best surf breaks – Keramas – but its passion for all things healthy saw its popularity rise with other travellers.
Guests are able to create their very own fitness regime in the dedicated Health Hub which offers plenty of distractions for non-surfers. It has an adults-only lap pool, juice bar and an impressive organic menu all day.
As you wander around the property you will see their thriving vegetable garden, tropical fruits and chickens providing organic eggs.
I loved that yoga offered a beautiful view of the surrounding surf. Just right to zen out and feel fit and healthy. If you fancy a hard work-out, that can be arranged too.
Spend some time in Joglo Spa and have your body pampered from head to toe. They even provide treatments for children.
Komune’s Beach Club is where people gather to enjoy cool drinks and to soak up the marvellous views. You will see why it was voted in the ‘Top 5’ in Asia. The executive chef brings his worldwide experience to the fore with food and entertainment from Asia, Europe and Australia. There are also fun themed dinners for everyone to enjoy.
There is a beachfront outdoor cinema set amongst coconut trees with ocean views, a restaurant and bar.
Komune has 66 4-star rooms and suites, 5-star beachfront pool suites and 1, 2 and 3 bedroom villas. Each is sumptuously appointed with artistic furniture showcasing Bali’s identity as the Island of the Gods.
There’s a choice of queen beds or two singles and all rooms have ensuite facilities, couch, desk, safe, air-conditioning and ceiling fan. There is also high-speed WiFi and satellite television.
Once your appetite has peaked, there are some wonderful choices… healthy juices, cocktails, seafood, pizzas, fresh salads and lots more. The mantra is simple: tasty, fresh and fulfilling.
As evening sets in, your dining experience is set under the stars with your feet in the sand.
Komune is family-friendly, it’s perfect for romantics, groups of friends and those who love the surf. They have everything covered to ensure everyone has the perfect Balinese holiday!
