I love road-tripping with my husband through Provence in the south of France. We travelled two road trips, a year apart, in the same region arriving in Avignon and basing ourselves at La Bastide Marie in a tiny village called Menerbes. Everything is so picture-perfect in this region: The colour palette of lemon, pink and blue in the architecture, complemented the lush, green surroundings, and flowers coming out in bloom. The food is amazing with such fresh produce that we would regularly eat six-course dinners in the evening at our hotel, and travel through various towns during the day for lunch. Some of our favourite towns include Gordes and Roussillon and, on our second road trip, we drove to St Tropez and lazed around on the beautiful beaches.

Top tip for holidaying in Provence
Travelling out of peak season saves a lot of time in traffic. The roads are narrow and the parking can be limited, especially during the popular market days. We travelled, in both years, at the end of May and the weather was still warm, and the locals felt relaxed with less tourists.
Something Yeojin always packs when she travels
A hat that can protect me from the sun but also complete a look in the evening. And I ask ahead if there is a yoga mat available at my destination so I can stretch out from the car journey and give my body a stretch before my next meal.
A destination on her bucket list
Last year, we went to Italy and it was very difficult to pick which cities to visit. We travelled to Lake Garda, Lake Como and Florence, but still on my list is Puglia which I hope we can tick off next year.
A travel disaster – or near-miss
I don’t really have any disastrous travel stories. I have missed planes but they can be re-booked; missed luggage but they reappear. I think it’s good to travel with a flexible attitude and knowledge that things will work themselves out in the end.
