by Tuesday, April 10, 2018

In Ask The Concierge this week, we profile the Assistant General Manager of Shilla Stay Guro in Seoul, South Korea, Mr Giyoung Chang. The Shilla Stay Guro is a member of the Connect Collection from Preferred Hotels and Resorts. Let’s hear where he goes on a day off, where we must go for lunch, and what he loves about his hotel…

Mr Giyoung Chang.

Most popular request…

Guests frequently ask for a bath tub and a high floor to enjoy the city view. Most guests are from Japan and South East Asia, and our Japanese guests like to have baths after a long day.

Favourite local place when enjoying a day off…

There is a big park near the Hotel called ‘Boramae Gongwon (Park)’ where locals come to run, play badminton, walk their dogs and have picnics with their family. We love this park as it is wide but still calm.

Guest room.

Best coffee…

We would like you to really come enjoy our best coffee COVA where you could enjoy the scent of Milan, Italy. Caffe Cova is also out there in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong but you could get this coffee bean only from our Shilla Stay hotels in Korea.

Where we must go for lunch…

Korea is well-known for its barbeque. If you are not in a hurry, you could visit this restaurant ‘바른식탁 Bareun Siktak’ located in the famous Gangnam district in Seoul.

It’s a rainy day outside but we want to explore, what we should do…

We do have outlet mall close to the hotel where many locals come enjoy their shopping spree. It is called ‘Mario Outlet’. As many people wouldn’t like to go outside when it rains, people get together at the mall to have lunch, watch a film, and have coffee all together in one place.

An absolute must-do or must-see before leaving…

You should definitely visit the Gyeongbokgung Palace, the largest and arguably the most beautiful of the five in South Korea. Another place to visit is Hongdae, a neighbourhood known for its youthful and romantic ambience, underground culture, and freedom of self-expression. Unique cafes, cozy galleries, accessory stores, fashion shops, live cafés and clubs, art markets, and gourmet eateries make this a popular hang-out for local youth and a fascinating place to walk around. The best place for street food and seafood and where locals visit, is the Noryangjin Fish Market – one of South Korea’s largest seafood markets, offering the freshest seafood & live Octopus Sashimi in the country.

What he loved about his hotel…

We love our Rooftop Terrace. It is also highest rooftop terrace in the Guro area and is also available for private events if booked in advance.

Anything else we should know about when visiting…

We are located in Seoul but also near the suburban area outside Seoul so it would be a good chance for you to rent a car and drive outside with less hassle than in the city centre of Seoul!
