SPECIAL NOTE – Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by Hurricane Irma. As you may have heard, it is a traumatic time in the British Virgin Islands, where Necker Island is located, and the whole surrounding area has been in the eye of the storm. We urge everyone to donate and support in any way you can via the British Red Cross appeal.

Journeys to Come is a podcast about travel hosted by Australia’s Queen of Travel Catriona Rowntree. Each week we share memories from recent trips and talk about upcoming adventures.

In this episode of Journeys to Come, Catriona talks to travel tycoon, knight and aspirational space traveller Sir Richard Branson. They discuss travel adventures with his two children, seeing life through the eyes of his grandchildren, and why he loves visiting Australia.

Sir Richard tells Catriona he got his great sense of adventure from his mum. “I’m a great believer in living life to its full”. Every year he and his children set themselves a challenge. Most recently they spent a month hiking, riding and swimming 2,500 miles from Switzerland, all the way through Italy to end up on a beautiful island climbing a volcano.

Catriona also discovers which countries remain on the bucket list of one of the world’s most recognisable entrepreneurs.

And the billionaire shares some secrets to inexpensive travel. He says kite surfing is one of his favourite things to do and costs very little. “It’s much easier to learn than skiing”

From humble beginnings as an enterprising teenager to becoming one of the world’s most captivating and triumphant entrepreneurs, adventurers and island-owners… his grasp on life is simply contagious and awe-inspiring.
