Sublime Southampton, NY – with TV creator, Chrys Phillips

by Saturday, May 12, 2018

There are many travel destinations that make you want to go back again and again however, I fell in love with New York City/The Hamptons. The stunning surf coastline and the local community atmosphere is like a home away from home. From the homemade bakeries, fresh grown produce and designer stores to the escapism of its rolling waves, it’s a sublime place to go!

Her tips for travelling to the Hamptons

The Hamptons is notorious for being filled with tourists and beach goers on busy Summer weekends. My tip is to avoid the high part of summer and travel out of season. You’ll experience The Hamptons’ other local and seasonal events and food.

What she always packs

The go-to item I always pack is a small, electric hand-held fan… ha ha! Sounds archaic however, many flights or other transport can often have no air conditioning running and it can get quite tiring and stuffy. With a small fan you keep cool and fresh for your next destination!

Her bucket-list destination

One of my dream vacations is the Amalfi Coast in Italy, preferably having learned Italian so I can immerse myself not only in its beauty but among its local culture.

A travel disaster

We landed in Atlanta [Georgia] after a long flight into Los Angeles from Australia. Exhausted and literally starving from the constant travelling, the hotel apologetically advised us that they were double-booked. They tried to find us another hotel. This was now an impossible feat as Atlanta was jam-packed with thousands of people attending the USA Cheerleading competitions and other events. We drove to a B&B and found out they had no rooms either!  Starving and sleepy we slept in our small car. What an experience, especially that the tv show “Vampire Diaries” was filmed there and it looked quite ominous!

About Chrys Phillips

A natural-born storyteller with a keen understanding of what people want to see and read, it’s no wonder Chrys Phillips has had worldwide success with several of her projects, inclusive of award-nominated books and theatre productions, as well as her most recent endeavour, of the deviously gripping and thrilleresque TV Drama Series “Counter Play”. Created, directed and independently financed and co-produced by Chrys, the series will air on Australia’s 9GO! and titan streaming platform, Amazon Prime, in 2018. Not stopping there, Chrys has many other scripts in development, which are to be filmed overseas.
